PURPOSE: To stop a drum in a specified position by furnishing a low speed operating means for a motor, a chopper duty fixing means, a drum rotating time measuring means, a chopper duty reduction ratio deciding means, and a drum braking means.
CONSTITUTION: A drum type washing machine is equipped with a low speed operating means 30 to drop the revolving speed of a motor 3 by sinking the chopper duty gradually when a specified position stop command for a drum is given, a duty fixing means 31 to fix the chopper duty when the specific revolving speed is attained by the drum, and a rotating time measuring means 32 to measure the rotating time of the drum at this time. A duty reduction ratio deciding means 33 decides the duty reduction ratio of the chopper on the basis of the duty value fixed by the duty fixing means 31 and the measurement given by the rotating time measuring means 32, and when the duty nullifies and a drum position signal is fed from a drum position sensor 9, the drive signal of a drive circuit 15 is fixed temporarily, and brakes are applied to the drum by a drum braking means 34.
