To provide a drum washing machine in which water in a water tub is circulated by a circulation pump without using a complex structure and the circulation water is uniformly sprayed on washing regardless of quantity and kind of washing thrown into the water tub.
A rotary drum 4 formed into a cylinder shape bottomed is set in a water tub 3 so that the rotation axis direction is horizontal or inclined downward from the horizontal direction from an opening front side toward the back side to be a bottom part. The rotary drum 4 is driven by a motor 6 to perform at least one of a washing step and a rinsing step. A water circulation system 16 is provided to circulate the water in the water tub 3 via a water circulation passage 31 connected thereto by a circulation pump 20 with variable rotational speed. In the water circulation system 16, the circulation water is delivered from a flow passage 52 between the backside of a front end wall 3h of the water tub 3 and the surface of a front end wall 4b of the rotary drum 4 into the rotary drum 4.
