Abstract:

To provide a dry type refining method which can efficiently remove copper from lead in a short time.

Antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) in an amount of ≥5 times to the copper is added into the molten lead 3 containing the copper. Sb2S3 is decomposed into antimony Sb and sulfur S in the molten lead 3. The sulfur S produced by the decomposition is combined with copper Cu to produce copper sulfide (Cu2S) and the copper sulfide is floated up on the molten lead 3. The floated up copper sulfide together with the dross are removed from the molten lead 3 to remove the copper from the lead.
