PURPOSE: To provide the subject apparatus capable of accurately performing the shape grading in shipping by carrying out the drying treatment of bulbs to a moisture content adapted to the shipping between a root removing machine and a grader.

CONSTITUTION: This dryer for bulbs of flower and ornamental plants is capable of feeding each container 1 housing bulbs from a receiving part A to a drum type washing machine 6 while turning over the container 1 with a container dumper 5, carrying out the drying treatment of the bulbs after the washing in a primary drying part C, performing the drying treatment of the bulbs after removing the root with a root removing machine 27 to a moisture content adapted to the shipping with a secondary drying means 32 and then feeding the dried bulbs to a grader 43 and preventing the shape grading in the shipping from becoming inaccurate due to the contraction of the bulbs themselves.
