To provide a large-scale dryer for papermaking use, achieving the reduction of weight as a whole while eliminating the thermal strain on a drying drum by taking advantage of the merits of a cast-type drum and a worked steel plate drum and consequently meeting the mass-producing demand of paper products.
The dryer is a hollow rotor composed of circular side plates 17 having a rotary shaft 11 at the center, a cylindrical drying drum 20 attached to the outer circumference of the side plates 17, and a heating chamber 21 as an inner space surrounded by the above parts. An undried web of a papermaking material P0 is wound on the circumference of the drying drum 20 heated with a heating means to dry the papermaking material P0. The outer circumference of the drying drum 20 is a cast material finished by cutting work and the side plate 17 is formed of a steel plate.
