To provide a drying apparatus for materials to be dried, having high drying accuracy without an adverse effect such as an undried portion and charred portion on the materials, with the aid of a jig directly holding the materials and a jig such as a frame supporting the aforementioned jig when the materials are irradiated with microwaves.

A drying apparatus for materials to be dried has a microwave heating unit in which applied electric power is constant or variable, and which is capable of performing intermittent or continuous heating, and a far-infrared ray heating unit having on its external side a control board capable of regulating a temperature raised by irradiation, both units being provided to a pressure reducing tank in which materials to be dried are set, and further has a control part capable of simultaneously effecting microwave heating and far-infrared ray heating. In this apparatus, a material holding jig 12 adapted to hold the materials such as a tray, plate, pinch, basket, bar and conveyor, has a shape that the materials can receive sufficiently far-infrared ray heating, and moreover is formed of a microwave-transmittable material having resistance to heat with respect to far-infrared ray heating.
