This drying apparatus is equipped with a housing 13 constituted of a double wall and having a treatment tank 12 for housing garbage and a suction port 15 formed thereto, a deodorizing means 25 equipped with the deodorizing part 25a arranged on the side of the double wall cavity part 14 in the communication passage of the cavity part 14 with the treatment tank 12 and the first heater 25b arranged on the side of the treatment tank 12 to heat the deodorizing part 25a, an exhaust port 26 for exhausting air in the cavity part 14 to the outside and a fan 28 for successively passing the air taken in the treatment tank 12 from the suction port 15 through the deodorizing means 25 and the cavity part 14. The flow channel between the suction port 15 and the treatment tank 12 is opened at the time of start of treatment to operate the fan 28 and closed at the time of completion of treatment to stop the operation of the fan 28.
