To obtain a papermaking drying cloth having a prolonged life and resistant to thermal and abrasion deterioration by weaving with a machine- direction yarn defining the upper and lower surfaces and a cross-machine direction yarn.
A cloth for papermaking, especially a drying cloth 10 is woven by using a cross-machine direction(CD) yarn and a machine-direction(MD) yarn composed of a polyamide, a polyester, a polyphenylene sulfide or a heat-resistant hydrolysis-resistant polyester. The MD yarn 26, 28 composed of monofilament having circular or rectangular cross-section are doubly woven into a cloth with a repeating pattern to position the MD yarn 26 on continuous three adjacent CD yarns 18 of the 1st layer together with the CD yarns 18, 22 composed of monofilament, plied monofilament or multifilament in the 1st layer 16 and 2nd layer 20 of the 1st structure 24, and position the yarn under the subsequent CD yarn 18' and then above the continuous three adjacent CD yarns 18. The MD yarn 28 and the CD yarns 22, 22' of the 2nd layer 20 are also doubly woven with a similar repeating pattern to obtain a woven fabric 10 composed of the above two layers 16, 18 integrated with each other.
