Abstract:
Drying cylinder for use in the production or finishing of fibrous webs comprises heating fluid channels (12) between a supporting structure (8) and a thin outer casing (7). The quotient of the thermal conductivity and thickness of the outer mantel exceeds a limiting value, which is 3.2 kW/m 2>K for steel, 30 kW/m 2>K for aluminum, 18 kW/m 2>K for bronze, 3.4 kW/m 2>K for copper and 6.1 kW/m 2>K for magnesium.
