In the drying device for drying a sheet 1 under conveyance of a sheet-fed press equipped with a transfer cylinder 10, which receives a sheet 1 having a surface transferred with an ultraviolet curing ink from an impression cylinder 102 and, by being conveyed under the state that the surface of the sheet 1 faces opposite to its center of rotation and is transferred to the following process, an ultraviolet irradiating means 40, which is provided within the interior of the transfer cylinder 10 and irradiates ultraviolet rays peripherally outwards, an shifting means 70 of an irradiating range for shifting the irradiating range of the ultraviolet irradiating means 40 within the conveying section of the sheet 1 by the transfer cylinder 10 and a controlling device 71 for controlling the shifting means 70 of an irradiating range so as to bring the shifting speed of the irradiating range of the ultraviolet irradiating means 40 not to exceed the conveying speed of the sheet 1 and, at the same time, at least partially slower than the conveying speed of the sheet 1, are equipped.
