To provide a drying device properly used to dry a painted surface in applying a coating material, in particular, a water-based coating material to a repair part in painting repair of an automobile body and the like.
This drying device includes an air blower, a hot air generator constituted by receiving a heater and a heat storage member for storing heat from the heater, in a container having an inflow port and an outflow port, converting a gas distributed from the air blower through the inflow port into hot air, and jetting the hot air from the outflow port, a spraying means connected with the hot air generator and injecting the hot air from the hot air generator, and a control means for controlling the air blower and the heater, and conditioning a temperature and air volume of the hot air injected from the spraying means 20 within a prescribed range. The control means has an air blower control section for controlling the air blower so that a high-speed operation is performed when the spraying means injects hot air, and a low-speed operation is performed in storing heat without injecting the hot air.
