PURPOSE: To enhance the cost efficiency of the whole of a rotary printing machine by miniaturizing the drying device in the rotary printing machine and improving the efficiency and function thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A drying device 1 for the printing paper 6 passed through a rotary printing machine is arranged on the just downstream side of the printing mechanism of the printing machine and equipped with a housing 2 allowing the printing paper to pass, a fan device and a nozzle pipe 4, that is, the nozzle pipe arranged in a lateral direction with respect to the feed direction of the printing paper over the almost whole width of the printing paper and spraying the air sucked out of the housing 2 by the fan device on the printing paper. In order to conserve the required energy consumption to desired drying effect to a large extent, the nozzle pipe is arranged only on the side opposed to the surface immediately after an ink bonding process of the printing paper and guide surfaces 9, 10 are arranged on the rear surface side thereof and the printing paper is supported by the air cushion generated in the gap 11 between the guide surfaces and the printing paper in a contact free manner.
