To treat unburnt gas in exhaust gas completely and restrain the generation of carbon monoxide and PCDDs(polychlorinated-dibenzo-p-dioxins), by a method wherein a surface combustion burner is installed on a ceiling unit in an incinerating device to heat and incinerate waste to be incinerated in the incinerating device while the unburnt gas or the product of combustion is incinerated with a high efficiency.
A surface combustion burner 1 for incineration is installed on the ceiling unit 7 in an incinerating furnace main body 2, while the mixture 3 of combustion gas and air supplied to the burner 1 is sent out of a combustion surface 4 as combustion gas 5. Then, exhaust gas 6 consisting of unburnt gas or the product of combustion generated by incinerating the objective matters of treatment, which are to be dried and incinerated, or the exhaust gas 6 consisting of the products of combustion, is conducted to flow near the ceiling unit 7 and is passed immediately below the surface combustion burner 1 to guide the same into an exhaust gas duct. According to this method, the exhaust gas 6 is incinerated efficiently and completely by the combustion gas 5. In this case, when the combustion surface 4 of the surface combustion burner 1 is formed of a fiber mat, an excess air rate in the combustion gas 5 can be increased whereby the exhaust gas 6 can be incinerated more efficiently.
