PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of unequal drying and to optimize rapid drying by controlling the surface temps. of heat rollers by each of the respective heat rollers or by each of the respective groups of the heat rollers.
CONSTITUTION: The state of drying characteristics and unequal drying varies with the arrangement and combinations of the heat rollers 244 in a drying chamber 46. The positions where the heat rollers 244 can be arranged in the drying chamber 46 are specified to, for example, 7 pieces successively from the upstream side in a film transporting direction and the respective heat rollers 244A to 244G are provided with sensors for detecting their respective surface temps. so that the temps. of these rollers are respectively independently controllable (on-off control of halogen lamps). Namely, the surface temps. of, for example, the heat rollers 244 are so set as to be higher on the upstream side in the film transporting direction (heat rollers 244A to 244D) and to be lower on the downstream side of the film transporting direction (heat rollers 244E to 244G). The temps. are controlled in accordance with these set temps.
