Waste is dried in a gasifying and melting facility by a method wherein the waste, charged into a gasifying furnace 5, is decomposed through pyrolysis and the pyrolysis gas is burnt in the primary combustion chamber 6a of a melting furnace 6 at a high temperature to melt ash, accompanied by the pyrolysis gas, while combustion exhaust gas, in which the molten slag is collected, is introduced into a secondary combustion chamber 6c to burn through complete combustion. In such a gasifying and melting facility, a part of the combustion exhaust gas at the inlet port of the secondary combustion chamber 6c is extracted by a drying gas introducing duct 11 to send the same into a drying machine 1 as drying gas and dry the waste, then, drying exhaust gas after the drying is returned into the secondary combustion chamber 6c through a drying exhaust gas discharging duct 12 and a part of the same from a circulating exhaust gas duct 13 is mixed into drying gas through a gas mixing device to regulate the temperature of the drying gas.
