PURPOSE: To extremely quickly provide a dried and shaped plant portion substan tially without damaging the original color of the plant portion, by placing the flowers, leaves or the like of a plant between two sheetlike drying agent- containing materials and heating them under pressing.

CONSTITUTION: Pressing rolls 2 and heating means 3 are disposed on the insides of net-like endless belts 1 and 1 and drying agent-containing materials 4 and 4 are passed through between the endless belts 1 and 1 in parallel with the net-like endless belts 1 and 1, respectively. The portions 5 of a pant such as living flowers are placed between drying agent-containing materials 4 and 4 and pressed and shaped by the pressing rolls 2 from the vertical direction. The evaporation of moisture from the interiors of the plant portions 5 is simultaneously accelerated by the heating means 3, thereby permitting to provide pressed flowers substantially having an original color within 5-6min by performing the process at 50-60°C even in the case of camellia petals or the like. 0.5-3mm thick blotting paper containing 24-27wt.% of CaCl2 is preferably used as the drying agent-containing material and the moisture-absorbing property of the blotting paper is readily recovered by an empty operation of the apparatus.
