Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dual-band wavelength dividing multiplexer in which widths of bands are made closer.
SOLUTION: The wavelength-dividing multiplexer is provided with first and second slab waveguides, a plurality of channel waveguides which connect the first and the second slab waveguides, an input section which is connected to the first slab waveguide and an output section which is connected to the second slab waveguide. The input section is provided with an input waveguide which receives optical signals; a wavelength dividing multiplex filter which is connected to the input waveguide, outputs first band optical signals to a first connecting waveguide and outputs second band optical signals to a second connecting waveguide; a first mode converter which is connected to the wavelength dividing multiplex filter through the first connecting waveguide and mode converts the first band optical signals; and a second mode converter which is connected to the wavelength dividing multiplex filter through the second connecting waveguide and mode-converts the second band optical signals. The flat zone of the optical signals of the first mode converter and the flat zone of the optical signals of the second mode converter are mutually made different.
