Abstract:

PURPOSE: To realize the posture control of a dummy head at the time of inserting into a mold with a simple constitution in a low cost, in the dummy head for continuous caster inserting/separating to/from the mold by mounting on a carriage for ascending/descending with a wire-winch system.

CONSTITUTION: A guide means 4b for positioning the dummy head 4 to the center of the mold 1 by bringing into contact with rollers 2, 3 arranged at the lower part of the mold 1 is arranged at the side wall of the dummy head 4. Then the guide means 4b is composed of a projecting line at the side wall of the dummy head 4 along the lifting direction and has the inclining surface for guide at the upper end part of the inserting side into the mold 1.
