PURPOSE: To provide a dust collector capable of sucking air at uniform speed over the entire region of a suction port and capable of being enhanced in dust collecting efficiency to the utmost by properly setting the opening width of the suction port and the direction of the opening surface thereof, that is, the inflow direction of air from the suction port.

CONSTITUTION: A dust collector comprises at least one exhaust port 14 provided in an elongated chamber 16 having a slitlike suction port 12 opened thereto along the longitudinal direction and the slitlike suction port 12 opened in the direction eccentric from the center of the chamber even at any position in the longitudinal direction of the chamber 16, where the opening width in the cross section of the chamber 16 is 0.01-0.2 times the entire outer peripheral length in the cross section of the chamber 16.
