The dust collector is constituted of a fire extinguishing chamber 7 for removing hot particles from dust in the air sucked into a case 3 through a dust collecting duct 13, a mixing chamber 8 for sprinkling water over the air passed through the fire extinguishing chamber 7, a collection chamber 9 for collecting the water and dust mixed by the mixing chamber 8, a separation chamber 10 for separating the dust from the dust-containing water collected by the collection chamber 9 and a filter chamber 11 for removing fine dust in the air passed through the separation chamber 10 by a filter 26. Since a fire is extinguished in the fire distinguishing chamber 7 even if hot particles causing a fire are present in the dust sucked into the case 3 from the dust collecting duct 13, the cause of the fire can be prevented in advance, in the main body 1 of the dust collector.
