To provide a dust removing method which enables the efficient and safe removal of dust in a short time without applying an excess force to a structural member and increasing an equipment cost and an operation cost, and a dust extractor therefor.

The dust removing method enables shock waves generated by converged detonation to act on the surface of matter to which dust adheres to peel the dust from the surface of the matter. The dust extractor is equipped with a converged detonation generator 1 for converging the detonation generated by the combustion of combustible gas supplied into the apparatus along with the advance thereof to generate converged detonation, a gas supply device 2 for supplying combustible gas to the converged detonation generator 1 and a shock wave pipe 3 for converting the converged detonation generated in the converged detonation generator 1 to shock waves.
