To make it easy for a dye-sensitized solar cell to change an appearance of the dye-sensitized solar cell with a simple composition.
A dye-sensitized solar cell comprises: a transparent substrate 2 having a transparent conductive film 2B; an electric generation layer 3 in which an aggregation of semiconductor particles which supporting a sensitizing dye excited by light irradiation to emit electrons is stacked on the transparent conductive layer 2B; an electrolyte layer 7 stacked on the electric generation layer 3 and the transparent conductive layer 2B; a metal substrate 8 which has an electrode surface 8a contacting the electrolyte layer 7 and which is arranged opposite to the transparent substrate 2; and metal wiring 4 arranged on a surface of the transparent conductive film 2B. The transparent substrate 2 is composed of a substrate having light permeability and includes a covering layer 5 composed of an insulator which is formed in a shape to cover a part of a surface of the transparent substrate 2 from the electrolyte layer 7 side and cover the metal wiring 4 form the electrolyte layer 7 side at a position of being viewed from the outside through the transparent substrate 2.
