PURPOSE: To obtain a receiving sheet having excellent image aptitude by providing an org. polymer barrier layer on a substrate satisfying a specific condition to form a base material sheet and coating said sheet with a dyeing layer.
CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer image receiving sheet has a sheetlike support containing cellulose pulp as a main component and having Bekk smoothness of 1,000sec or more, the lower coating layer formed to one surface of the support and containing a thermoplastic resin as a main component and having Bekk smoothness of 100 - 500sec and the upper coating layer formed on said lower coating layer and having Bekk smoothness of 1,000sec or more. Further, the receiving sheet may have the opposite surface coating layer formed to the opposite surface of the sheetlike support and containing a thermoplastic resin as a main component. By this method, the gradation and uniformity of low and high densities of an image are enhanced and the heat curl of the receiving sheet after printing is reduced.
