To obtain a dyeing agent for keratinous fibers which is nondusting and shows improved use characteristics and removability upon washing by suspending a powdery vegetable dye in an oil.
35-75wt.% powdery vegetable dye obtained from leaves of Lawsonia inermis L., leaves of Polygonum tinctorium Aiton, flowers of Matricaria chamonilla L., roots of Curcuma domestica Valeton, leaves of Rheum officinale Baillon, Rhomnus japonica Maxim. and Olea eurpae L. and fruits of Canadian Potentilla fragarioides L. var. major Maxim., Curcuma domestica Valeton, yellow tree, Erythroxylon coca Lam., Pterocarpus santalimus L., Haemotoxlon campechianum L., Rubia Akane Nakai, Black Sambucus Sieboldiana Bl. and black apple is suspended in 25-65wt.% at least one oil selected from among liquid silicones, paraffins, vegetable or animal oils, liquid fatty acids, liquid fatty acid esters, liquid alkoxylated fatty acid esters, liquid glycerides, liquid alkoxylated glycerides, etc., to obtain a dyeing agent for keratinous fibers. To dye the hair, a dye paste prepared by mixing this agent with water in a ratio of 10:1 to 1:10 is applied to the hair wetted with water, and the hair is kept in this state for 5-80min, washed with water and dried.
