To dye plastic lenses for glasses of high heat resistance and high refractive index with increased dyeing pot stability at an increased dyeing speed by adding a specific substance to a dye bath containing a disperse dye.
The dyeing bath is prepared by adding at least a benzyl alcohol compound or a phenethyl alcohol compound of formula I [R1 is OH or R2OH (R2 is a 1-5 alkyl); R3 is H, OH or a 1-5C alkyl] and a p-phenylphenol, o- phenylphenol or m-phenylphenol compound of formula II (R4-R7 are each OH, a 1-10C alkoxy, a 1-5C alkyl, a halogen or H) to an aqueous solution containing a disperse dye. A plastic lens including thiourethane bond or (meth)acrylate and having ≥95°C glass transition point is dipped in the dyeing bath and dyed at a temperature of ≥85°C, then a hard coat layer or an antireflective layer is formed on the lens surface.
