Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a dyed cloth having high quality, bulkiness and soft feeling by dyeing a cloth made of a polyamide fiber having a boiling water shrinkage and an initial modulus lower than respective specific levels with a gas-flow dyeing machine.

CONSTITUTION: A woven or knit fabric such as taffeta, twill, satin, georgette, tricot or gray sheeting made of a polyamide fiber (e.g. nylon 6, nylon 66 or nylon 610) having a boiling water shrinkage of ≤5% and an initial modulus of ≤350 kg/mm2 is dyed with a gas-flow dyeing machine. The above woven or knit fabric is endlessly circulated in the dyeing machine at a machine temperature of 80-120°C with a flow of a gas or a mixture of gas and liquid. The longitudinal tension of the fabric in the transfer direction can be decreased by the above circulation method to prevent the generation of defects such as wrinkle, wale streak, crack and glare liable to occur in polyamide fabric having low thermal stress. At the same time, the defects such as lead mark and needle streak generated in the production of fabric can be eliminated by this process.
