Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in general, air flow mechanisms, and more specifically, a dynamic resonance system and method for the anti-icing and de-icing of inlet grids.SOLUTION: A system includes an inlet grid 110 configured to reduce distortion of an incoming airflow. The system may also include: a vibration device 120a to 120n coupled to the inlet grid; and a controller communicatively coupled to the vibration device. The controller may transmit a vibration signal to the vibration device so as to cause the vibration device to vibrate the inlet grid such that the inlet grid can resonate at a natural frequency thereby inducing a mode shape in the inlet grid. The mode shape may break up and prevent ice on the inlet grid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
