Title:
EARTHQUAKE-PROOF AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF DEVICE FOR GAS FLOW
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5973675
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically stop a flow of a gas at the time of an earthquake, by a method wherein an end part of a rail fitted to a pendulum is inserted into a hole provided in an intermediate part of a pipe, a ball valve is placed thereon, and a discharging port fitted with a valve seat and a cylindrical magnet at a lower part of a main body is connected to the pipe. CONSTITUTION:An intake port 3 is fitted to an upper part of the main body 1, and the discharging port 4 fitted with the valve seat 10 and the cylindrical magnet 11 is fitted to a lower part of the main body 1 by connecting it with the pipe 6. An end part of the rail 8 fitted to the pendulum is inserted into the hole provided at the intermediate part of the pipe 6, the ball valve 9 is placed thereon, and a pendulum stopper 12 for preventing the pendulum 7 from being swung beyond a predetermined position is provided in the interior 5 of the main body 1. When the main body is swung due to an earthquake, the pendulum 7 is also concurrently swung, and the ball valve 9 placed on the end part of the rail 8 drops onto the valve seat 10 and is attracted by the magnet 11, so that the discharging port 4 is closed, thereby preventing a gas from flowing through.
