Abstract:

PURPOSE: To construct a response control structure by a method in which many concrete balls are set on the reinforced foundation concrete in such a way that the balls can roll between the base concrete and the foundation concrete when the base concrete moves horizontally.

CONSTITUTION: Many concrete or ceramic balls 2 are put on a reinforced base concrete, and drum-shaped studs 3 whose body is made of lead and the flange portion is made of a metal are set on the main portions. A foundation concrete 4 is provided through the balls 2 and the studs 3 and the aperture between the concretes 1 and 4 is covered with an enclosing part 5. When earthquake occurs, the balls roll to relieve the vibration of the concrete 4 and the position of the balls 2 is restored to the original positions by the recovering feature of the lead of the studs 3. The response control structure can thus be constructed at low cost.
