To allow backward descending eaves to employ the same eaves plate as forward descending eaves without experiencing restriction in shape such as formation of a water path groove on the eaves plate and also enable the same eaves plate to be employed irrespective of the extension length of the eaves.
An eaves 1 comprises an eaves plate 2 which is retained by a retainer 3 at its base end so as to be extended forward from the outer wall surface of a building in such a manner that its backend is lowered. The retainer 3 comprises a cover 6 mounted over the entire width of the base end of the eaves plate 2 so as to cover the portion in which the base end of the eaves plate 2 is retained from above and a sealing mechanism 47 comprising a plural number of elastic materials 45 arranged in a clearance extending in the width direction between the top surface of the base end of the eaves plate 2 and the lower edge of the cover 6. The sealing mechanism 47 includes a latch fitting 4 for latching and fixing the elastic materials 45 in a pressed state at space intervals so that openings are formed between each elastic material and its adjacent elastic material 45.
