Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current type speed reducer which can inhibit windage loss and secure heat radiation performance.SOLUTION: A speed reducer includes a rotor (1), multiple fins (8), multiple permanent magnets (3), a switching mechanism, a first cover (21), a second cover (22) and a cover switching mechanism. The fins (8) are provided on an outer peripheral surface (1a) of the rotor (1) and incline relative to a rotation direction of the rotor (1). The magnets (3) are lined up at the inner side of the rotor (1). The switching mechanism switches a state of the speed reducer between a brake state and a non-brake state. The first cover (21) faces an end surface (1c) of the rotor (1). The second cover (22) protrudes to the rotor (1) side from an outer peripheral edge of the first cover (21). The cover switching mechanism moves the cover (21) closer to the rotor (1) in the brake state and moves the cover (21) away from the rotor (1) in the non-brake state. The first cover (21) is disposed at the side where preceding end parts (8a) of the fins (8) exist.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
