Abstract:

To improve light emission power in an edge light emitting organic LED.

This edge light emitting organic LED includes an organic LED as a light emitting source and an optical component used for a light guide part. The light emitted from the organic LED is introduced into the light guide part and extracted from the cross section of the light guide part. The purpose is accomplished by the edge light emitting organic LED characterized in that the optical component has a conical shape, a shape formed by cutting out a part from the tip of a cone toward the end face thereof or a pyramid shape, and the organic LED is mounted on a part of its side face.
