Title:
EDIBLE COMPOSITE FILM RESISTANT TO MOISTURE PERMEABILITY USING NATURAL FORMULA WAX
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3399612
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject film improved in resistance to moisture permeability, soluble in warm water, thus suitable as e.g. a food packaging material, by coating an edible polysaccharide film with a hydrophobic layer of natural formula wax consisting mainly of rice bran wax, candelilla wax and beeswax.
CONSTITUTION: This composite film is obtained by coating one side or both sides of an edible polysaccharide film (pref. made from alginic acid or a salt thereof) with a hydrophobic layer of natural formula wax consisting mainly of rice bran wax, candelilla wax and beeswax. The preferable composition of the natural formula wax is as follows: 2-10 pts.wt. of rice bran wax, 25-35 pts.wt. of candelilla wax and 60-70 pts.wt. of beeswax. This composite film can be obtained, for example, by the following processes: an edible polysaccharide film is put on a hot plate heated at 66-75°C followed by dripping a natural formula wax melted by heating to 66-75°C onto the hot plate and then coating the wax so as to be 0.1-10 micron in thickness using a roller, and the resultant film is peeled off the hot plate and then cooled.
