PURPOSE: To edit a character pattern efficiently, by using a code converter, a pattern converter and a pattern generator, in a character pattern edit control system which forms and displays synthesized upper/lower positioned characters at a terminal device.

CONSTITUTION: A code coverter 4 stores the correspondence between the memory address data length and a character code of a character pattern in an inte- nal memory. A pattern converter 6 gives an address to allocate a basic character pattern on the character pattern as a result of an overall editing. Further, a pattern generator 7 dividing a character pattern for a full angle's share as the result of edit into a half angle is provided. Thus, various character patterns are edited, and the edited character pattern is prepared for the next time usage with the number of times of information of a managing table 8.
