PURPOSE: To listen to a timbre for a test by the electronic musical instrument which is equipped with no keyboard by sounding the timbre at a desired pitch with desired sound volume during the editing of the timbre.

CONSTITUTION: In mode wherein timbre parameters are displayed in windows 30 and 31 on a display 16 and edited, a sound generation icon 32 is displayed on the display 16 and when this sound generation icon 32 is clicked, a musical tone being edited is generated in a specific state. The state of this sound generation may be preset with parameters or controlled with a clicking operation force.
