Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain phytoecdysteroid for exterminating a harmful organism and controlling growth of a useful organism by culturing a hair root capable of producing phytoecdysteroid in a medium containing auxin at an early period and in a medium deficient in phosphoric acid in an middle and a final periods.

CONSTITUTION: A hair root clone Ar-4 strain of Ajuga reptans var. atropurpurea capable of producing phytoecdysteroid (insect ecdysis hormone) collected by inoculation of Agrobacterium rhizogenes MAFF-01724 strain is cultured in a medium containing 0.001-10 mg/l auxin (e.g. indoleacetic acid) at 25°C at a dark place at an early period and then in a medium deficient in phosphoric acid, having 10-300mg/l phosphoric acid concentration at a middle and a final periods to efficiently give the objective phytoecdysteroid for exterminating a harmful organism and controlling growth of a useful organism.
