To secure a supporting plate easily and surely at a specified position in an outer tube by placing the supporting plate in the outer tube inserted with a plurality of pipe members, forming a part protruding toward the inside of the outer tube and supporting the outer circumferential part of the supporting plate at the protruding part.
The outer tube 11 of an EGR gas cooler is formed cylindrically of stainless steel and inlet and outlet pipes 13, 15 of cooling liquid are opened in the outer circumference of the outer tube 11. A pair of end plates 17 are provided at the opposite ends of the outer tube 11 and pipe members 19 are fitted, at the end parts thereof, in a large number of through holes 17a made in each end plate 17. The outer tube 11 is coupled, at the opposite ends thereof, with the inlet 21 and outlet 23 of EGR gas. A supporting plate 29 is placed in the outer tube 11 and a part 33 protruding toward the inside of the outer tube 11 is formed at a position on the supporting plate 29 corresponding to a fixing part 29c by embossing the outer tube 11. The supporting plate 29 is secured surely in place by the protrusion 33.
