PURPOSE: To prevent the contact of EGR gas for an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation in take engine with the surface of a cylinder liner.

CONSTITUTION: A suction passage 1 in an EGR feed engine where part of exhaust gas is recirculated into a suction system consists of a main suction passage 2 and an auxiliary suction passage 3: the former has one end connected to an air cleaner and the other formed as an eddy portion 2a spirally open above a suction valve 4 in a cylinder 5 to spirally suck new air supplied from the air cleaner into the cylinder along the surface of a cylinder liner and the latter has one end connected to an exhaust passage in the engine and the other end open above the suction valve 4 facing the approximately center and the lower part of the cylinder to suck part of exhaust gas into the center of the cylinder.
