To provide an EL illumination device in which an EL light-emitting body is fixed easily to a frame, of which appearance as a device is superior to conventional ones, and in which thickness is made thinner than that of the conventional ones.
The EL illumination device includes the EL light-emitting body 1 in which an EL element 12 is formed on a glass substrate 11, the end edge part of a non-forming region of the EL element 12 of the glass substrate 11 constituting this EL light-emitting body 1 is mounted on the supporting frame 2. In at least one of the end edge part of the glass substrate 11 and the frame 2 so that an outer face of the light-emitting side of the glass substrate 11 and an outer face of the frame 2 mutually become flush, a binding means F (level difference part 2b having the same difference amount as the thickness of the glass substrate 11, and adhesive 4) to integrally bind both 11 and 2 is installed.
