To provide an elastomer-modified epoxy siloxane composition having improved flexibility, weatherability, and chemical resistance.
The elastomer-modified epoxy siloxane composition is prepared by combining, in the presence of water, (1) a silicone intermediate preferably in the form of an alkoxy or silanol-functional polysiloxane with (2) an epoxy resin preferably having more than one 1,2-epoxide groups per molecule, and an epoxide equivalent weight in the range of from 100 to about 5,000, (3) an elastomeric resinous intermediate having a functionality selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, isocyanate, carboxyl, epoxy, mercaptan, and amine, and being selected from the group of resins consisting of butenes, polybutenes, butadienes, polybutadienes, nitrites, acrylonitriles, polysulfides, and combination thereof, and (4) a polyfunctional amine curative agent.
