PURPOSE: To obtain the electric air cleaner which imparts refreshing sense to clean air and is excellent in performance and quiet by equipping a negative ion generating needle, a negative discharge electrode and a positive dust collecting electrode having a damping function as a constitutional element.
CONSTITUTION: A discharge electrode 5 and a dust collecting electrode 6 are arranged in the passage 1 of an air flow in a cleaner main body. A negative ion generating needle 9 is installed in the downstream side of the dust collecting electrode 6 in the passage 1 of the air flow. The electric air cleaner is set so that negative voltage is impressed to the discharge electrode 5 and positive voltage is impressed to the dust collecting electrode 6. Further the dust collecting electrode 6 is constituted of an electrode member having a damping function and of a sandwich structure in which synthetic resin 11 is pinched between two sheets of conductive plates 6a, 6b. As a result, the electric air cleaner which imparts refreshing sense to the clean air and is excellent in performance and quiet is obtained.
