This balance has a pan-bearer support shaft 5 linked to a weighing part housed in a body case 1 and extending out downward from the body case 1, an arcuate pan-bearer arm 11 linked to a lower end part of the pan- bearer support shaft 6 rotatably in a horizontal plane and having a spatial part 12 formed in its middle part, and a weighing pan 10 attached to lower end parts of the pan-bearer arm 11. In the event that a shopper puts goods on the weighing pan 10 situated on the deeper side of the pan-bearer arm 11 when the pan-bearer arm 11 is situated on the side nearer to the shopper, the shopper puts the goods on the weighing pan 10 through the spatial part 12 formed in the middle part of the pan-bearer arm 11.
