Abstract:
PURPOSE: To regulate a recording mark to a prescribed value in length and to suppress a data error at the time of reproducing data by checking a data recording chracteristic of a mounted optical recording medium and setting a correcting value of recording pulse width.
CONSTITUTION: It is detected by a control part 12 immediately after a power source is inputted to a magneto-optical disk device concerned that a magneto- optical disk 4 is mounted, and then when it is detected that a detected value of a temp. sensor 36 falls within a temp. range which may have influence upon forming the recording mark, write pulse processing is executed to form the characteristic of the disk 4 and the optimum recording mark at that time. For example, a checking zone CKz settled in the disk 4 is sought, and a value of pulse width correcting amt. data is set for an initial value. Then, shortest repetition pattern data is recorded in a prescribed number of sectors, and subsequently, longest repetition pattern data is recorded in a prescribed number of sectors. Then, when a quotient of dividing a shortest repetition pattern read value by a longest repetition pattern read value is larger than a prescribed value, a reproducing error is prevented.
