A motor 16 pressing a braking member 19, a driving circuit 12 controlling the motor 16, an electric current sensor 15 measuring a current value of the driving circuit 12, a rotation angle sensor 17 detecting a rotation angle of the motor 16, a thrust sensor 18 measuring thrust of the braking member 19, and a controller 13 inputting these sensor values and a brake pedal operation signal and controlling the driving circuit 12 are provided. When an abnormality occurs in the electric current sensor 15, the rotation angle sensor 17, or the thrust sensor 18, keeping or stopping of a braking force generating function is determined according to a kind of an abnormality sensor. When it is determined as keeping, the braking force generating function is kept by another sensor different from the abnormality sensor.
