To provide an electric brake device in which, even when any trouble occurs in a motor and a deceleration mechanism, and pressing force can not be canceled, the pressing force can be easily canceled.
In the electric brake device, a piston unit 12 is slidably accommodated in the cylinder chamber of a cylinder 14, slides inside the cylinder chamber with thrust of a screw generated by rotational drive of a braking bolt 22, and presses a pad onto a disk rotor. A fixed plate 52 is fixed to the cylinder 14. A stopper 56 is fixed to the braking bolt 22 and abutted via other member on the fixed plate 52, thereby blocking movement of the braking bolt 22 in a return direction from a predetermined position. An axial direction movement allowing section includes a lock pin 34 which is disposed between the fixed plate 52 and the stopper 56 so as to be removed, and allows the braking bolt 22 to move in the return direction from the predetermined position by removing the lock pin 34.
