To provide an electric car controlling apparatus that adjusts the depth of charge and discharge of a power storage element in advance so as to be capable of responding to discharge or charge capacity required in future and compensating pantograph separation effectively.
This electric car controlling apparatus is provided with a power storage element 1 that stores electric power, a charge/discharge means 2 that charges and discharges DC power to the power storage element, a DC capacitor 3 that smoothes a DC voltage of the charge/discharge means, an inverter 4 that converts the DC voltage to an AC one, a motor 5 that is driven by the AC voltage, a speed detection means 8 that detects the rotational speed of the motor, and a charge/discharge control means 7 that monitors the DC voltage of the inverter and performs the control of charging the DC power to the power storage element by the charge/discharge means if the DC voltage is higher than a predetermined reference value, discharging the DC power from the power storage element by the charge/discharge means if the DC voltage is lower than the prescribed reference voltage, and charging the power storage element up to the maximum depth of the charge with regard to the depth of the charge and discharge.
