This electric cart is provided with the main switch 2 for instructing a control device 1 by switching-on operation to start the electric cart 7, the relay contact 5a that is inserted in a wiring connecting a power supply 3 to a driving device 4 and switched on and off by control signals from the control device 1, and an accelerator 6 for varying the output of the driving device 4. The current capacity that flows in the relay contact 5a is varied by the control signals from the control device 1 based on the operation of the accelerator 6 so that the output of the driving device 4 is varied. When the main switch 2 is turned off while the cart is running with the accelerator 6 turned on and the driving device 4 driven, the current capacity that flows in the relay contact 5a is controlled by the control signals from the control device 1 in such a way as to be equal to or lower than a constant current threshold value, and the relay contact 5a is controlled in such a way as to be switched off by turning off the accelerator 6.
