To provide an electric compressor capable of securing oil holding quantity in the compressor by preventing external outflow of oil by stirring of a balance weight, while improving balance performance and reducing oscillation of the compressor.
The electric compressor 1 has a compression mechanism part 2, a rotary shaft 300, an electric motor 600, a bearing 401 for supporting the rotary shaft 300, an oil supply pump part 900 for supplying the oil to the compression mechanism part 2 and the bearing 401, the balance weight 407 provided on the rotary shaft 300, a balance weight cover 404 provided so as to surround the balance weight 407, and a sealed container 700 for housing them. The balance weight 407 is provided so that the maximum outer diameter part 407a thereof projects into an end surface side of a coil end of a stator 601 of the electric motor 600. The balance weight cover 404 is provided so as to cover an outer periphery of the maximum outer diameter part 407a of the balance weight 407.
