To provide an electric connector for a flat flexible cable with an upper contact in consideration of an industrial use of a conventional connector for a flat flexible cable with a lower contact.
The electric connector holding the flat flexible cable by the upper contact comprises two kinds of contact pieces for holding the flat flexible cable, a body of equipment housing the contact pieces, and an open/close type actuator. Respective contacts of the two kinds of contact pieces have a gap each in an insertion direction to form a staggered row of contacts by alternately arranging respective contact pieces in the body of equipment. An FPC can be inserted by the first kind of contact pieces without insertion force, and by the second kind of contact pieces with a small insertion force, and accordingly, the connector is constructed into a zero insertion force (ZIF) structure and low insertion force (LIF) structure at insertion of the FPC by the first and second kinds of contact pieces.
