To reduce the possibility for interfering with other elements mounted on a board by aligning and holding a connector on the board via the cooperation of fitting posts and engaging sections when the connector is fitted to the printed wiring board.

An outside shield 40 is arranged around the side walls 16, 18 and the rear wall of a housing 11. Two T-shaped sections 44 are provided at the bottom section of the outside shield 40. The T-shaped section 44 are bent in the openings of fitting posts 32, and the apexes of the T-shaped sections 44 are held in grooves 36 when the outside shield 40 is fixed to the housing 11. The end sections of the apexes of the T-shaped sections 44 extend beyond the outer peripheral sections of the fitting posts 32. When an electric connector 10 is pressed and fitted to a printed wiring board, the end sections of the apexes of the T-shaped sections 44 are warped in the opposite direction to the inserting direction. The energizing force formed by the warped end sections holds the electric connector at a fitting position against the printing wiring board.
